Deeper in debt without creating promised jobs
7/25/10 | Bucks County Courier Times
In the July 9th editions of this newspaper, Congressman Patrick Murphy acknowledges that our county lost 15,000 jobs, but goes on to blame everyone but the failed economic policies he has endorsed, supported and voted for.
Unemployment has risen 100 percent in the four years Congressman Murphy has been in Congress; notably, his party has been in the majority in every one of those years.
Yet he had the audacity to criticize a constituent in last Sunday's Courier Times simply because that letter writer questioned the congressman's claim that he helped create 3,000 jobs in Bucks County. Instead of providing some detail as to the whereabouts of these 3,000 jobs, the congressman labeled the critical letter writer "cynical" and "arrogant."
There is no need to "defend" the letter writer. I'm responding to the congressman's political posturing and, especially, his revisionist history, which is becoming bolder and more unbelievable as we move closer to the November election.

2010 Race of the Day: PA-08
7/8/10 | Townhall Magazine
In one of the more interesting and fastest developing House races to watch this fall, former Republican Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick is taking on Rep. Patrick Murphy, the Democrat who ousted the freshman Fitzpatrick by just over 1,500 votes in the 2006 wave. With Murphy now facing the liability of his two-term incumbency and his unwavering support for the unpopular Democrat agenda, he now faces an uphill climb to a third term. To make life more difficult for the liberal Murphy, Fitzpatrick is already charging hard back into the ring, having already amassed a hefty war chest and collected 77 percent of the vote in a crowded and contested Republican primary.

Fitzpatrick wants probe of job offers
6/1/10 | Bucks County Courier Times
The GOP candidate for the 8th House District wants a special prosecutor to look into allegations involving Joe Sestak and Andrew Romanoff of Colorado.
Congressional candidate Mike Fitzpatrick is calling for a special prosecutor to investigate White House job offers to Congressman Joe Sestak and Democratic Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff of Colorado to entice them out of primary fights.
Fitzpatrick, the former Republican congressman challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy to reclaim the 8th District seat, wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder. In it, he cited the violation of federal criminal laws, including 18 U.S.C. 600, which prohibits promising a government position "as consideration, favor, or reward for any political activity" or "in connection with any primary election or political convention or caucus held to select candidates for any political office."

“The battle begins tonight,” said Michael Fitzpatrick, after winning the U.S. House Republican nomination for the 8th Congressional District in Pennsylvania Tuesday night.
His Primary victory sets up a rematch of the 2006 election when Patrick Murphy defeated Fitzpatrick for Congress by a razor-thin margin.
“Remember the date -- November 2 because that’s the date we defeat Patrick Murphy, fire Nancy Pelosi, and begin to take Washington back,” said Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick, who served one term in Congress, handily defeated his primary opponents, tallying 31,862 votes, or 76.5 percent of the vote.
