I wanted to give you an update on an effort I am spear-heading in Congress.

A review of Medicare disbursements has revealed that contrary to federal law, payments have been made to inmates and illegal aliens. This is clearly unacceptable and illegal.  I've sent a letter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services about this and plan to hold her feet to the fire on the issue to make sure these illegal payments end.

There are over 100,000 Medicare recipients in the 8th district and each time an illegal payment is made, we put their future disbursements at risk. We must eliminate the waste and fraud within the system.

This is Washington, so my letter is just the opening salvo in a long fight to make things right.  You have my promise to continue to push this issue and to hold the Department of Health and Human Services accountable.
