Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick was born and raised in Pennsylvania.
A former Bucks County Commissioner, Congressman Fitzpatrick was elected in county-wide elections in 1995, 1999 and 2003 on a platform of environmental preservation, progressive human and social service programs, economic and job creation and efficient governmental administration.
A life-long resident of Pennsylvania's Eighth Congressional District, He was elected in 2004 to represent his neighbors in the Nation's Capitol as a Member of the United States House of Representatives. He has been tireless in fighting for the priorities of his constituents - protecting national security, enhancing retirement security and promoting economic security.
Congressman Fitzpatrick serves on the House Financial Services Committee. He also serves on the House Committee on Small Business.
Prior to serving in the United States Congress, Congressman Fitzpatrick served for ten years as Bucks County Commissioner. His administration was credited with the permanent preservation of over 11,000 acres of beautiful farmland, parkland and critical natural areas. He was honored by several environmental organizations for leadership in environmental protection and preservation including the Greenspace Alliance.
A graduate of Bishop Egan High School in Fairless Hills, Bucks County, Mike went on to St. Thomas University with an academic scholarship where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in 1985 from the school's Honors Program. He worked all four years while attending college and was awarded the university's highest service award at graduation. Three years later, Mike earned his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University where he was named Business Manager of the Dickinson Journal of International Law.
Upon graduation from the Dickinson School of Law in 1988, Mike was admitted to the practice of law before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of New Jersey and in 2000 before the United States Supreme Court.
Congressman Fitzpatrick and his wife, Kathleen, have been married seventeen years and have six children - three girls (Katie, Maggie and Molly) and three boys (Jimmy, Mick and Tommy). Mike and Kathy have been life-long residents of Bucks County and have served their community in many capacities. An Eagle Scout, Mike has remained active in Scouting and is a past-President of the Bucks County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He has served on the board of directors of a local hospital, a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation and treatment center and a long term care facility. Kathy, a former girl scout and Sunday School Teacher, has continued to lead a local girl scout troop and serves as a neighborhood leader for many fundraising charities.
Congressman Fitzpatrick was born on June 28, 1963.
